The Predators had many moments to be proud of during the 2011-12 season.There were seven comebacks from deficits of two or more goals. There was the re-signing of goaltender Pekka Rinne to a multiyear contract. There was the 4-1 playoff rout of the Red Wings, a longtime nemesis.But the image of the season will once again be a look of disappointment in a handshake line at the end of a playoff series.The Coyotes defeated the Predators 2-1 in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals on Monday to win the best-of-seven series 4-1.The Coyotes did significant damage in the second period.Derek Morris fired a slap shot past Rinne to take a 1-0 lead with 16:06 left in the period. With 4:51 remaining, Martin Hanzal made it 2-0 with a wrist shot past Rinne.

The Detroit Red Wings beat the Phoenix Coyotes in a shootout to start a 7 game winning streak and extend their home winning streak to 13. Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg scored shootout goals for the victory and Jimmy Howard earned his 100th career NHL victory. He found out earlier in the day he was selected to his first ever NHL All-Star game. Filppula and Franzen scored the goals for Detroit in regulation play.
